Yes, yes I know back to the future day is tomorrow but I just couldn't wait. I don't know why I'm so irrationally excited.
I find it bizarre. People's expectations of the future back then we're very skewed and out of whack. For example if we look at Star Trek and back to the future. In Star Trek art technology was so far advanced we managed interstellar travel, but our laptops were still huge. At the same time if we did not have those shows to give us those ideas, our technology would be drastically different.
You go back and watch the aliens series again and it's far far into the future and there's still using tube based monitors and televisions. Even now you can see the same sort of thing going on in today's world. with humanoid robots that look disturbingly like the ones in the Terminator movies. I find it fascinating how our entertainment influences our technology. What about you?
